Inspired by the Celiac community and the incredible stories I have heard about how difficult it is to diagnose an individual effected by the gluten in their diet, we at Pear Tree Catering set out to find a solution to how the celiac can enjoy a normal eating program with a variety of foods that taste good, can be easily prepared and are fresh & nutritious. As a result of our work we have developed a new program which is affordable and addresses the need to eat a well balance and nutritional meal that is free of any gluten products.
Celiac disease is defined as an immune disorder set off by eating foods containing gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye and barley which damages the lining of the small intestine, making it difficult for the body to absorb nutrients. Victims suffer from mild to serious malnutrition, discomfort follow eating and a host of health problems, including anemia, low bone density and infertility. Eating gluten free should not be mistaken with a diet that helps you lose weight. Many blogs and articles discuss eating gluten free as a substitute for a diet to lose weight.
